Prada has recently launched their new 2024 Re-Nylon campaign with ambassadors Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch, shining a spotlight on Sea Beyond. This educational initiative was introduced in 2019 to educate the public about the importance of preserving our oceans and tackling pollution.
Watson and Cumberbatch, who are both talented actors and vocal activists, were recently captured on camera by the renowned photographer Willy Vanderperre. Vanderperre, known for his work with high-end fashion brands like Christian Dior and Dior Homme, perfectly captured the essence of the Prada Re-Nylon collection. This collection embodies a core aspect of Prada’s brand identity – a mix of innovative spirit and a strong sense of responsibility, as stated by the brand itself.
Emma Watson is now the face of the latest Prada Re-Nylon collection campaign. This collection is all about sustainability, using a special nylon yarn called Econyl that is made from recycled plastics found in the ocean, like old fishing nets. Launched back in 2019, the campaign also incorporates plastics from landfills and leftover fiber waste, all of which can be recycled endlessly without losing quality.
Benedict Cumberbatch stars in the latest campaign for Prada’s Re-Nylon collection. The brand has made a significant shift towards sustainability by transforming its virgin nylon production into regenerated nylon for its products. The collection, which includes ready-to-wear and accessories for both men and women, is all crafted from recycled nylon using an innovative depolymerization and re-polymerization process.
Prada has been using nylon as a key fabric in its designs since the late ’70s. Now, the focus is on regenerated nylon as the brand aims to lead the way in sustainable practices within the luxury industry. Proceeds from sales of the Re-Nylon collection will contribute one percent to Sea Beyond, a cause supported by Prada Group and UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC).
